The Challenge

A Tier 1 automotive supplier requires a more durable and reliable system for handling and transporting a variety of components within a high-volume production environment. Existing packaging solutions were not designed for long-term industrial use and were breaking down under repeated handling, creating both product damage and safety concerns.

The supplier also needed packaging that could accommodate multiple component types while maintaining organization and efficiency on the manufacturing floor. The solution had to withstand continuous use while remaining practical to clean, return, and reuse across the production process.

The Solution

The Indianapolis team designed solutions for long-term use, incorporating materials that are returnable, washable, and built to withstand demanding factory conditions. These solutions include HDPE partitions, returnable parts kits, wire racks, stamped metal component packaging, torque strap assemblies, and protective post packs used to transport and organize components throughout the production process. Many of these are produced directly at the Indianapolis facility using the site’s die cutting and manufacturing capabilities, allowing the team to maintain strict quality control while supporting the production volumes required by automotive manufacturing. The team also developed cross-link foam trays coated with Polyurea Coating, a specialized coating that creates an extremely durable protective surface designed for heavy industrial use.
