Circular Packaging Designed to Scale for Natulim

Natulim, a European body care brand, has set out to launch a new product line with sustainability at its core. The brand needed a packaging solution that reduced environmental impact while maintaining premium design, performance, and scalability. Stephen Gould was engaged to support the project using the MEADOW KAPSUL™ aluminum refill technology, for which SG is currently the only licensee for the dispenser in the United States.

The Challenge

Like many personal care brands operating in the European market, Natulim faced increasing regulatory pressure driven by the European Union’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulations (PPWR) and the Extended Produce Responsibility (EPR) requirements. Traditional single-use plastic packaging conflicted with both regulatory expectations and the brand’s sustainability goals. The challenge was to implement a circular packaging system that could scale globally, integrate seamlessly into Natulim’s brand identity, and meet high design and quality standards.

The Solution

Kama Best and Grant Challinor from our Fremont office developed a fully customized, reusable dispenser designed to house the MEADOW KAPSUL™ patented aluminum refill system. The dispenser activates a Daisy-topped aluminum can through a twist-to-open mechanism, allowing the product to be dispensed while the aluminum refill is recycled after use. Design development was completed in collaboration with Untitled Studio, followed by rapid, high-fidelity prototyping with our China teams. Multiple production-ready samples were created to validate form, finish, and functionality before tooling began. The teams traveled to China to review builds in person and ensure every detail met performance and quality requirements prior to full-scale production.

The Result

The project delivered a refined, reusable dispenser system paired with recyclable aluminum refills that aligned with Natulim’s sustainability commitments and regulatory needs. Within weeks of final approval, Natulim received its first production run, marking a successful launch of the MEADOW KAPSUL™ technology designed for both premium presentation and long-term scalability. The project demonstrates how Stephen Gould’s design, manufacturing, and supply chain expertise can bring emerging sustainable technologies to market with confidence.
