With production demands surging for their canned cheese products, a contract manufacturer for a renowned cheese producer needed a flexible, scalable solution to keep up. Facing supply chain disruptions and increased customer demand, they sought a fulfillment partner capable of managing labeling, tray assembly, shrink wrapping, and logistics, while maintaining strict standards for efficiency and quality control.

The client needed a turnkey solution that could rapidly scale production while ensuring accuracy in labeling, packaging, and inventory management. The project required integrating multiple processes into a seamless operation, from receiving unlabeled cans to preparing them for distribution.

The Solution

Led by Adam Greenberg, Stephen Gould established a dedicated fulfillment line within its Chicago facility, investing in custom-configured equipment, warehouse modifications, and a structured quality control system. The team designed a streamlined process where unlabeled cans are received, labeled, scanned for accuracy, stacked into trays, shrink-wrapped, and prepared for shipment. To meet required specifications, inkjet printing was also integrated to ensure lot codes and best-by dates were correctly applied.

Each stage of the process is carefully managed to ensure both efficiency and precision. Daily production reports provide real-time visibility into inventory, while ongoing enhancements, like the introduction of automated material handling systems, continue to increase output without compromising quality.

The Result

What began as an urgent request to meet production shortfalls has evolved into a long-term fulfillment program. By optimizing processes and refining workflows, the facility now exceeds initial production targets, delivering up to 80,000 labeled and packed units per day. The success of this program has not only resolved the client’s supply chain challenges but also positioned Stephen Gould as a reliable fulfillment partner for future expansion.
